Gundren Rockseeker hired the players to assist him by escorting some goods and mining equipment from Neverwinter to Phandalin. he was secretive about why he needed so much mining equipment only saying that it was for "something big." He set off down the road with a body guard, but they were attacked along the way and seemingly taken to a goblin cave.
Gungren is also the cousin of Jass.
